One of the two teeth in the very middle of the lower jaw, the one on the left.
- Next to it, across the middle: #25 lower right central incisor
- Behind: #23 lower left lateral incisor
- Bites against: #9 upper left central incisor
It replaces the lower left baby central incisor (O), which falls out at 6–7 years.

This tooth is #24 in the US and 31 in the international (FDI) system, where the 3 means the lower left quarter and the 1 is its place counting from the front.
In the international system, 24 is the upper left first premolar (#12).
And in the US, #31 is the lower right second molar.
